Society
Just Beginnings Flowers (JBF) is a social enterprise which combines a floral business with a floral training school. It was registered as a non-profit society in 2006 and our social mission is to provide training, work experience and job placement in the floral industry for people with multiple barriers to employment.
The goal is to operate a commercially successful floral business whose profits will be used to assist students with multiple barriers who, without this support, would not have access to training programs. The store opened in February 2007 and the school was launched in January 2008. The operations of the store and school are closely linked, as both students and graduates are involved in the design and production of floral products.
Just Beginnings Flowers Society mandate is:
- To operate as a social enterprise
- To train men and women with significant barriers to employment and those making the transition to the labour market
- To provide a job placement
- To assist participants in finding employment.
The society is governed by a board of directors, which is comprised of individuals with varied experience.
Membership
To become a member of the society, please download the membership application. We have corporate, family and single membership rates. As a member of the society, you may attend the annual general meetings and run for board positions. We welcome potential board members to volunteer with the society and learn more about what we do.
