What you will learn
The comprehensive curriculum in our diploma program exceeds floral industry standards and upon graduation, students are provided assistance finding job placements in floral design positions most suited to their interests, skills and talents.
The training includes:
- Identifying flowers and plants
- Care and handling of fresh flowers
- Floral design – colour, form, texture, etc.
- Designing for special occasions especially for weddings
- Basic skills for decorating, display and presentation
- Overall flower shop working skills
- Training for pricing guidelines, purchasing policies and profit margins
- Customer service and public relations
- Basics of home-based floral design work for those who would like to grow their future by becoming self-employed

The primary focus of our program is to train students for work in the floral industry. Our student profile is diverse, some students have barriers to employment, some may be entering the workforce for the first time, others are retraining for a new career and even entrepreneurs who want to launch their own business. Whatever you goals, you will benefit from the healing experience of working with fresh flowers and have an opportunity of self exploration of your potential and creativity.
Cost
The cost of our intensive six-week diploma course is competitive with other training programs when compared on the price per hour of instruction. The added benefit is our fees include the cost of fresh flowers, textbook and quality instruction with ample time to perfect your skills and knowledge about the industry. There are no additional fees.

Registration fee is non-refundable and reserves your spot in our next scheduled course. The tuition fee is payable by the first day of class.
Just Beginnings staff are knowledgeable about funding sources and full or partial bursaries may be available.
